2026 World Climbing Oceania Championships Speed Climbing
On February 14th, while most people were thinking about roses and chocolate, the real love story was unfolding of the speed wall as climbers from Australia and New Zealand gathered for the 2026 World Climbing Oceania Championships Speed Climbing event.
This year’s event was hosted by Mount Mauganui, which is situated on New Zealand‘s North Island. Climbers and fans from across the Oceania gathered at Blake Park, which is a large multi-sport complex, to take part in this year’s high energy, fast paced games.
From the early rounds to the finals, the energy stayed high and the times kept dropping. Valentine’s Day might be about love, but on this wall, it was all about commitment, precision, and going all in. Men’s Speed Final

The competition was fierce as it ended up at the 2026 World Climbing Championships Speed Climbing event. New Zealand’s fan favorite Julian David held up against some fierce competition to take the first place medal. He went head-to-head with Australia’s Fin Luck Sandeck in the final round. Although it was a close match, David was able to hold on to his lead til the very end to secure the win with a 5.61s finish.
Joining his Australian teammate on the podium was Hayden Barton with the bronze medal. He was able to maintain almost a whole one second lead over New Zealand’s Flynn Chisholm to secure his win.

Women’s Speed Final
New Zealand proudly took home the top three medals in the women’s speed final of the 2026 World Climbing Oceania Speed Climbing event. The gold medal went to Helen Lee, who quickly outpaced her opponent in the final round with a 8.09s finish.
Placing second on the podium was Sarah Tetzlaff, who couldn’t manage to keep up with Lee in the final round and ended up finishing with 12.60s finish. Joining Lee and Tetzlaff on the podium was Abby Gebert with the bronze medal.
