IFSC World Cup Seoul 2023 Results
Despite the downpouring of rain and strong wind, the IFSC World Cup Seoul 2023 results have come in with speed climbers shattering records and boulder climbers showing an extraordinary display of skill in this years event.
Men’s and Women’s Speed Climbing
Poland’s Aleksandra Miroslaw, the women’s speed gold medalist from the 2022 World Cup Seoul, has received the gold medal again. An unbeatable performance from the Polish climber, who set a new world record of 6.25 in her final race. The top two spots were held by Poland, with fellow Polish climber Natalia Kalucka claiming silver. In third, the bronze medal went to Indonesia’s Made Rita Kusuma Dewi Desak who overtook Natalia’s twin sister Aleksandra Kalucka in the small final.
Indonesia’s Veddriq Leonardo was the talk of the men’s speed climbing competition when he posted a sub-5 time not once, but twice with a 4.90 in the quarter-finals and a 4.93 in the semi-finals. China’s Long Jinbao and Wang Xinshang received the silver and bronze medals. As his career debut on the IFSC World Cup circuit, a successful first competition for Wang Xinshang.
Men’s and Women’s Boulder
The IFSC World Cup Seoul 2023 results for the Seoul bouldering final have come in with some unexpected turn of events. Due to the weather, the scheduling for the women’s and men’s boulder had to be changed to the point that there was no final. Instead, the semi-final was the last round for the competitors to strive to achieve the top spots on the podium.
For women’s boulder, Japan’s Miho Nonaka had a powerful performance which allowed her to reach first place and achieve the gold medal. It has been five years since she received the gold medal, so it was indeed an emotional win for her. The silver medal was awarded to France’s Oriane Bertone who was one of two climbers to top the final boulder (W4). Coming in third for the bronze medal was America’s Brooke Raboutou, who gained her second medal of the year.
The climber that stole the show was France’s Mejdi Schalck by winning his second gold medal this season in men’s boulder. His fist bump after flashing his third boulder (M3) was a pure display of success as Mejdi realized he had guaranteed his position in the top spot for this boulder tournament. The IFSC World Cup Seoul 2023 results for second and third place go to Japan’s Tomoa Narasaki and Korea’s Jongwon Chon, who beat his fellow climber Dohyun Lee to place 3rd in his home country.
Despite the unusual turn of events due to the wind and rain that shook this event’s schedule, the Seoul bouldering gym was filled with an energetic and skillful display of athleticism by all the climbers. All eyes will be on Mejdi Schalck to see if he can continue this success when we see him compete in Salt Lake City, USA. Furthermore, Brooke Raboutou is outperforming the competition this year with serious control and more power over her technique than we have seen her in the past. As she moves to her home country for the next competition, her fans will be looking forward to how well she can perform on her home turf.
