2024 Olympics Men’s Combined Semifinal – Boulder Results

The 2024 Summer Olympics, held in Paris, is a stage for incredible athletic feats across various disciplines. One of the standout events is sport climbing. We kick-off the sport climbing events with the Men’s Combined Semifinal event, which is divided into lead climbing and bouldering. This morning’s event featured men’s boulder where 20 male climbers went head-to-head on four difficult boulder problems.

Athletes brought their unique style and strategy to the wall as each of the four boulders tested their technique, skill, and mental/physical strength. Find out how the athletes did below.

Men’s Boulder Semifinal

Making his Olympic debut with a smash, Japan’s Anraku Sorato takes the lead at the end of the bouldering portion of the 2024 Olympics Men’s Combined Semifinal with 69 points. At the age of 17 years old, Sorato started the competition with a bang when he not only topped the first two boulders, but flashed, or finished on the first try, the second boulder with ease.

Sorato’s compatriot Tomoa Narasaki came in second at the end of the men’s combined semifinal with 54.4 points after topping the final boulder. The fourth boulder was a difficult slab, but with a great display of technique and skill he was able to navigate a difficult problem to set himself up in a good position leading into the lead portion of the men’s combined semifinal.

Great Britain’s Toby Roberts is following close behind his competitors by coming in third place with 54.1 points. His spirits were lifted after he was able to top the first boulder. Roberts showed incredible skill and determination as he hit the high zone on the rest of the three boulders allowing him to place third.

Following the top three spots, France’s Sam Avezou (49.2 points), Czech’s Adam Ondra (48.7 points), and Austria’s Jakob Schubert (44.7 points). For more details about athletes results, check out the event page.

Men’s Lead Climbing Semifinal

Next will be the Men’s Combined Semifinal – Lead Climbing event, which will take place at 10am [UTC+2:00] on August 7th.

Athletes still have a chance to move up on the leader board in the lead climbing portion of the men’s combined semifinal event. Climbers have the chance to get a total of 200 points from both boulder and lead climbing events. With the boulder portion worth 100 points and the lead climbing portion worth 100 points.
