Rock Master 2023 Results
The Rock Master 2023 results are in after an exciting one day event filled with an incredible display of determination, speed and explosiveness as the best climbers around the world when head to head in duel competitions. Nestled in the town of Arco, ITALY, climbers gathered to compete in Lead Duel, which is a mix of traditional Lead and Speed formats where athletes compete on two identical, parallel climbs with the fastest to top winning.
Women’s Lead Duel
The eight female competitors invited to the event were Janja Garnbret (SLO), Brooke Raboutou (USA), Jessica Pilz (AUT), Laura Rogora (ITA), Camilla Moroni (ITA), Vita Lukan (SLO), Hannah Meul (GER), and Natsuki Tanii (JPN).
The Rock Master 2023 results are in with Slovenia’s Janja Garnbret winning her third Rock Master victory. She breezed through the semi-finals and came up against America’s Brooke Raboutou in the final. The race was close, but Garnbret stayed one step ahead of Raboutou throughout the course giving her the edge she needed to secure her victory.
Raboutou showed an exceptional performance at her first Rock Master. In the semi-finals, she faced Austrian’s Jessica Pilz. It turned into a close race when Raboutou had trouble clipping a long draw when entering the overhang. Although she lost her lead over Pilz, she was able to move through the overhang faster than Pilz leading to her silver medal.
Pilz joined Garnbret and Raboutou on the podium in third place, settling for the bronze medal.
Men’s Lead Duel
The eight male competitors invited to the event were Adam Ondra (CZE), Stefano Ghisolfi (ITA), Taisei Homma (JPN), Stefan Scherz (AUT), Jakob Schubert (AUT), Jesse Grupper (USA), Michael Piccolruaz (ITA), and Toby Roberts (UK).
The Rock Master 2023 results have Czech’s Adam Ondra taking home his seventh Rock Master victory. Ondra went up against tough competition, but was able to hold up against America’s Jesse Grupper in the semi-finals to go up against Austria’s Jakob Schubert in the final.
The final turned into a tight race, but Ondra showed a slight lead over Schubert leading into the overhang. He showed more precision and faster speed throughout the roof allowing him to secure his victory with a time of 1:01.
“There is only one Rock Master Festival, and how amazing it was climbing here again! Very happy to take down victory number 7 on this legendary stage. It was one of the best crowds, very good and a bit harder route, and great vibes behind the wall with other competitors.” Adam Ondra, Instagram
Joining Ondra and Schubert on the podium was Italy’s Michael Piccolruaz with the bronze medal. He was easily beaten by Schubert in the semi-finals, who had a more fluid climb throughout the course.
