Once again Salt Lake City, USA welcomes back the world’s best speed and boulder climbers from around the world to host the IFSC World Cup. The beautiful Pioneer Park held a spectacular three-day event with a lively crowd cheering on the athletes as they went head-to-head to reach the top of the podium.

To no one’s surprise, Poland’s Aleksandra Miroslaw is still at the top of her game. She was awarded the gold medal making this her third consecutive gold medal of the 2023 climbing season (12th consecutive World Cup). Miroslaw’s athletic prowess has shown time and time again as she recorded the fastest time for the women’s speed at 6.39. Reaching the podium at the IFSC World Cup Salt Lake City 2023 was also Indonesia’s Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi with the silver medal. China’s Lijuan Deng showed a commendable performance as she pushed past Indonesia’s Sallsabillah to secure the bronze medal.

The seasoned champion, Indonesia’s Veddriq Leonardo, hit the third sub-5 time of the evening to take home the gold medal. After disappointingly not reaching the podium at the World Cup Jakarta competition, Leonardo redeemed himself with consecutive clean starts and quick climbs at the men’s speed. Joining him on the podium was China’s Peng Wu who took home his second-ever World Cup medal by winning the silver medal. Despite a toe injury, Indonesia’s Kiromal Katibin easily breezed past America’s Samuel Watson to become the men’s speed bronze medalist.

A fierce comeback from America’s Natalia Grossman who achieved her fifth IFSC World Cup win in Salt Lake City by becoming the women’s boulder gold medalist. This was a great sign that Grossman has recovered after a neck injury at the Hachioji World Cup that has contributed to a bad start of the 2023 World Cup season for the reigning Boulder World Cup champion. Reaching four tops with three flashes in the final, she seems to be back in good form at the IFSC World Cup Salt Lake City 2023.

Asia was pretty hard for me, so just feeling physically better was already a huge help for me and my mental game. It’s cool to be home, I think this is the best crowd from any World Cup I have ever been to.”

France’s Oriane Bertone received her second medal this year by winning the women’s boulder silver medal. Grossman’s teammate Brooke Raboutou has had a stupendous start to the 2023 season and continues to show how much she has improved during winter training by becoming the bronze medalist at the IFSC World Cup Salt Lake City 2023 event.

In the men’s boulder, Japan took home the top two spots with Tomoa Narasaki (gold medalist) and fellow teammate Sorato Anraku (silver medalist) dominating the men’s final by topping all four boulder problems. Especially Narasaki, who showed great skill as he flashed two of the four final boulders. Great Britain’s Toby Roberts had a successful final round at the IFSC World Cup Salt Lake City 2023 event, which allowed him to take the final spot on the podium and secure the bronze medal.
