2024 Paris Olympics climbing events in combined [boulder & lead] will take place at the Bourget Sport Climbing Venue between August 5th and the 10th. The Paris Olympics will be sponsoring the sport climbing events along side the International Federation of Sport Climbing [IFSC].

Olympic History

Sport climbing made its first debut at the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games. This spectacle of athleticism matched with the exciting nature of the sport, garnered enough attention to bring it to the Tokyo Olympic Games as an official new sport. A the Tokyo Olympics, professional climbers competed in all three disciplines (Boulder, Lead, and Speed) with the final scores reflecting the combined score of all three disciplines. The climber with the lowest score received the Olympic Gold Medal.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will be hosting sport climbing again, but instead of once competition it will have two separate competitions. One will be the combined format, where professional climbers compete in both boulder and lead disciplines. The second one will be the speed climbing event.

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games are also scheduled to include sport climbing as an event.
