  • Brooke Raboutou from the USA won gold in women’s boulder, with Hannah Meul from Germany winning silver and Anon Matsufuji from Japan taking bronze.
  • The route setting for the women’s competition was particularly difficult, knocking out the 2022 Boulder World Cup Champion Natalia Grossman and the 2020 Summer Olympics silver medalist Nonaka Miho in the semi-finals.
  • Gold medal in men’s boulder went to Mejdi Schalck, with the silver medal going to Hannes Van Duysen from Belgium and Paul Jenft from France taking the bronze medal.
  • The route setting for this Climbing World Cup Hachioji event has been difficult for both semi-final and final rounds in both men’s and women’s boulder. For example, none of the competitors in the men’s final were able to even get a zone on the 4th problem (M4).
  • IFSC Climbing World Cup Hachioji introduced new dual-textured holds by manufacturer 360 Holds, which consist of smooth and rough surfaces. This difference in surface texture is less noticeable, but athletes are still able to discern the slight difference in color and texture on these new boulders.
