The 2026 World Climbing women’s boulder finals route setting turned out to be quite difficult with many of the competitors not even completing zones for the boulders and only the top two climbers being able to make tops.

The competitor that came out on top of the podium with a gold medal finish was America’s Annie Sanders. She was the only climber to top the W2 boulder, let alone flash it. Setting a performance that made the route setting for the finals look normal.

Sanders finished the finals with a score of 68.9 points. This gold medal marks her fourth gold medal for the 2026 World Climbing season.

“It feels pretty surreal. Innsbruck is one of my favorite places. It’s kind of like my European home, so to win gold here is really cool. I feel really good [about my climbing]. I feel really good about my shape right now and I’ve had a ton of fun out there on the mats. I’m just super psyched right now!”

Coming in second place with the silver medal was Great Britain’s Erin McNeice who turned things around by topping the final boulder giving her a final score of 34.8 points. This is her fourth consecutive 2026 World Climbing women’s boulder medal of the season, marking a great performance by McNeice so far this season.

Joining Sanders and McNeice on the podium was Australia’s Oceania Mackenzie with 30.0 points. She struggled like many of her fellow competitors to achieve a top in the finals, finishing with three zones. For every zone she only needed one try, which gave her the advantage to pull ahead of China’s Yuetong Zhang who finished in fourth place with 29.4 points.

This 2026 World Climbing women’s boulder finish marks Mackenzie’s third medal of the 2026 World Climbing season after she received bronze in China and gold in Bern.
