2026 Bloc Shop Open Returns: Final Results, Winners, and Competition Highlights

After a six year hiatus, one of Canada’s most beloved bouldering competitions has made its official comeback. The 2026 Bloc Shop Open returned to Montreal, bringing together professional athletes, passionate amateurs, and an energetic climbing community for three days of climbing from July 4th to 6th.

The last time the Bloc Shop Open took place was in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic forced organizers to pause the event. Its 2026 return is met with much community support and an impressive lineup of international competitors. Some of the professional climbers included Japan’s Mao Nakamura, France’s Mickaël Mawem, and Canada’s very own Helen Gillett.

Here’s a closer look at the key moments, highlights, and final results from the 2026 Bloc Shop Open competition.

The 2026 Bloc Shop Open Women’s Pro Final was highlighted by a dominant performance from Japan’s Mao Nakamura, who showcased exceptional technique, precision, and composure throughout the round. Nakamura topped all four final boulders, capping off her performance with a flash—completing the final problem on her first attempt—to secure the victory with an outstanding score of 99.7 points.

Canada’s Anna Kelley earned second place after a determined performance in the final. Despite repeatedly falling while attempting to secure a long, extended foothold on the fourth boulder, Kelley remained persistent and successfully reached the top during overtime. The crucial ascent on boulder four elevated her to a final score of 84.1 points and secured her place on the podium.

Rounding out the podium was Canada’s Helen Gillett, who finished third with two tops and four zone scores for a total of 69.6 points. She held off against fellow Canadian Babette Roy, who placed fourth with 59.8 points.

Men’s Pro Final

The Men’s Pro Final at the 2026 Bloc Shop Open delivered one of the closest contests of the competition, with podium positions separated by mere tenths of a point. Under the scoring system, each unsuccessful attempt deducts 0.1 points, making efficiency very important in this final.

USA’s Lukas Gerhardt claimed the first place with 54.6 points, narrowly edging out Canada’s Oscar Baudrand, who finished just 0.3 points behind with 54.3. Both climbers recorded one top and four zone scores, but Gerhardt’s more efficient climbing—requiring fewer attempts across the round—proved to be the deciding factor and secured him the victory.

The battle for the final podium position was equally dramatic. France’s Mickael Mawem and Japan’s Yoshiyuki Ogata were separated by just 0.1 points after both struggled on the opening boulder and were unable to reach the zone hold. Mawem ultimately earned the third place finish with 44.5 points, narrowly finishing ahead of Ogata, who placed fourth with 44.4 points.
