2024 Olympics Women’s Combined Semifinal: Gold Medalist Janja Garnbret Surges Ahead
2024 Olympics Women’s Combined Semifinal – Boulder Results
The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris has brought together the world’s best climbers to showcase their athleticism, resilience, and strength on an international stage. Yesterday’s competition started off in a spectacular fashion as spectators enjoyed seeing the male athletes go head-to-head on some of the most difficult boulder problems in the men’s combined semifinal. Todays women’s combined semifinal was no exception with some thrilling and challenging bnouldering performances by our fierce competitors.
The women’s combined event, which includes bouldering and lead climbing, began with the boulder round, setting the stage for a fiercely contested competition. The climbers faced four unique boulder problems, each presenting its own set of challenges and requiring a combination of strength, technique, and problem-solving skills.
Athletes brought their unique style and strategy to the wall as each of the four boulders tested their technique, skill, and mental/physical strength. Find out how the athletes did below.
Women’s Boulder Semifinal
The reigning Olympic gold medalist, Slovenia’s Janja Garnbret, did not disappoint viewers as she dominated the women’s combined semifinal by taking the number one spot with 99.6 points as we move into the lead portion of the combined event.
Garnbret was the only female athlete to top all four boulder problems. She showcased why she is considered by most to be the greatest climber of all time as she flashed, or reached the top on the first try, the first two boulder problems with ease.
The home crowd cheered with immense excitement for France’s Oriane Bertone who took second place with 84.5 points. Bertone scaled three out of the four boulders to place second overall. She was greatly overwhelmed with excitement as she was able to secure the second place in the final seconds as she topped the final boulder.
Following close behind her competitors in third place with 83.7 points was America’s Brooke Raboutou. Brooke was also able to complete three out of the four bouldering problems, but fell short of coming ahead of Bertone due to number of attempts she took which deducts 0.1 points from the athletes score.
Following the top three spots, Australia’s Oceania Mackenzie (79.6points), America’s Natalia Grossman (69.2 points), and Austria’s Jessica Pilz (68.8 points). For more details about athletes results at the women’s combined semifinal event, check out the event page.
